I really don't think there is much of a choice, Paul. A lot of money has
been spent already trying to maintain the collection out in the open.

Unless all we are to be bequeath to posterity are mounds of rust, this
priceless collection must be under-cover. East Ballarat would require the
rebuilding of what was once a magnificent engine shed that would cost
millions, but building something far less pretentious and costly would also
be of immense benefit.

I think our government, like all governments, only sees votes as a crisis.
It all depends on how much, and where they need to spend it, to bring in the
most votes.

Anyway, our government would be more likely to be seen to be supporting
heritage activities than spending money on, say, rail freight.
