With the rate that the Chinese have been rolling out HSR at home,
would you bet against this happening? Especially if they say to their
neighbours that the can have the lines for free in return for access
to their natural resources. Nice little piece of empire building.

Of course, it would say something if they pull this off in 10 years
while we are still arguing over where HS2 should go.
